Examines the proposals from the ODPM to abolish fire certificates for non domestic premises. There will be greater emphasis placed on fire prevention with a single regime based on risk assessment. The reforms will simplify existing law and are expected to come into force in 2005 under a Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, applying first to England and Wales.
