Examines the profile of cash purchasers in the UK, who account for around a quarter of all housing transactions, using both industry and consumer market research data to provide up-to-date information on cash buyers. Looks at the incidence of cash purchase, the relationship between house prices and cash buyers, and the property types mostly commonly bought with cash. Analyses the segmentation of the cash purchase market and concludes that cash buyers are and will continue to be primarily the older generation trading down and that the second homes market is one where cash transactions could become relatively more important.
