Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004

Reid, C.

Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 - 2004 - Scottish Planning and Environmental Law (106) December 2004, 135-13(3) .

Examines the provisions of the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004. The Act introduces an obligation on local authorities to further the conservation of biodiversity, makes major changes to the effect of land being designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and many detailed changes to the law on species protection. Concludes that the Act offers stronger wildlife protection but clearer obligations, more tightly focused regulation and rights of appeal for affected parties.
