A pain in the back pocket

Smith, A.

A pain in the back pocket - 2005 - Building 270(8366) 28 February 2005, 60-61(2) .

Discusses the impact of the chromium VI Directive (Directive 2003/53/EC) which is now in force and requires that cement workers be treated to protect them from a form of dermatitis caused by the presence of the metal chromium. This will cause cement prices to rise and is just the start of a series of major cost increases in 2005 with two other new major pieces of legislation being introduced; the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the working time directive which will push prices up by 15% in the next few months.
