A legal trap for contractors?

A legal trap for contractors? - 2005 - Contract Journal 426(6507) 12 January 2005, 18-19(2) .

Discusses the effect of the Employment Act 2002 (Dispute Resolution) Regulations 2004. The Regulations provide a uniform and written code for dealing with all disciplinary procedures by the employer. This should be easy to implement for larger firms which will have enough resources to comply with the new rules. However smaller firms which make up a significant amount of the construction sector may find that the additional administrative burden is too much for them to cope with. Also firms in the construction sector will be affected by ambiguity over the application of the new rules as they only apply to employees but not to other workers who supply services to employers such as subcontractors.
