What's your poison?

Hughes, J.

What's your poison? - 2005 - Building 270(8366) 28 February 2005, 56-57(2) .

Mentions the devastation caused by asbestos in the UK and then concentrates on other potential dangers. These include the problems of nanotechnology which can create nanoparticles and behave in unusual and hazardous ways. Toxic mould is also a problem which is spread through air conditioning systems and has proved very costly in the USA. The Health and Safety Executive suggests that another dangerous substance is silica and around 100 000 workers are exposed to it in the UK but its ill effects are negligible if correct rules are followed by employers.
