Outlines the differences between landlord covenants and personal covenants. The Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995 had reformed the legal rules governing the assignment of leases and reversions. Post-1995 leases cannot provide in advance for the landlord's liability on a landlord covenant to cease should the reversion be assigned and would be in contravention of the Act's anti-avoidance provisions. Refers to the case "Avonridge Property Co Ltd v Mashru" (Abs68361).
