Hird, C.

Standards of protection - 2005 - Fire Engineers' Journal 65(254) March 2005, 33-34(2) .

Describes how the new system of building standards in Scotland will contribute to improved life safety using automatic suppression in residential buildings. The Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 are due to be implemented on 1 May 2005. The Building (Scotland) Act 2003 promoted a more efficient approach to compliance with European directives and was more flexible in its approach to alternative fire safety design strategies, without a formal relaxation of the technical standards. Looks at existing and proposed legislation.
