Gives a brief history of the reasons for the introduction of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002. Points out that Reg 4, which came into force on 21 May 2004, places a duty on anyone with responsibility for the repair and maintenance of non-domestic premises to manage any asbestos in the building. This will affect landlords, tenants and co-occupiers of commercial buildings. Failure to comply may lead to severe criminal or civil liabilities and the possibility of being uninsured for the risk. Suggests strategies for dealing with the risk. Includes tables and diagrams.
