Includes an update on new construction and the particular defects that may occur, mainly with commercial property, in a summary of topical issues. Includes steel-frame corrosion, composite cladding, multi-storey car-parks and concrete problems. Concludes that although the quality of building construction has improved since the 1960s and early 1970s, modern buildings are rarely defect free. Stresses that keeping moisture out of building fabric can greatly reduce the number of defects.
