Looks at a method using GIS developed by the FDPSavills research department for utilising land in a sustainable way in all situation and locations, demonstrating that the government sustainable communities plan to deliver high-quality housing in desirable neighbourhoods can be profitable as well as principled. The approach informs the masterplanning process by assessing what can be built viably on a site. Reports on Savillstown, one of a number of client studies that measure the full, mixed-use potential of sites. Concludes that carefully planned bespoke mixed-use in its broadest sense is the key to delivering higher returns as well as sustainable communities and that real places are more valuable than artificial developments.
