Reports on a survey by "Construction News" which asked councils how they were procuring construction work. It found that out of 226 contracts let by 35 councils, 82% were let on price alone. These findings appear to be at odds with procurement strategies of many councils and after the National Audit Office said central government could save £2.6m a year by adopting more advanced methods of procurement.
