Academic inflation calculators - 2005 - QS Week 25 May 2005, 12-13(2) .

Illustrates how project costs are often updated using published indices to reflect current prices which can give rise to problems if there is an assumption that inflation affects all projects equally. For example, the price of metal, particularly steel and copper, has risen dramatically but this mainly affects those facilities constructed predominantly from steel. Costs for sports hall frames have risen by 45%, whilst the costs for structures built from other materials have not risen as fast.
