Examines the accelerating trend of mergers between housing associations in a market place where size offers the best chance of securing funding, a trend mirroring the acquisition strategies evident in the house builders' sector. These larger associations are ostensibly striving after economies of scale through increased production and cheaper procurement and are aiming to demonstrate the required increased efficiency following the Gershon Review into public-sector waste.
