Climate change must be taken into account in planning future land use and development and the stakes are particularly high for developers and investors in London and southeast England. Issues arising from climate change will soon be appearing in the courts. Reports on the risk/opportunity analysis of climate change presented in the Three Regions Climate Change Group's (TRCCG) February 2005 consultation paper "Adapting to climate change", which warns of the risks of increased development costs, tougher legislation to comply with, risk to an organisation's brand and increased weather risks. Points out imminent legislative change relating to energy efficiency, a range of private members' bills being introduced and the increasing importance of corporate social responsibility but questions how effective the policing of new environmental regulations will be.
