Reports on an RICS professional qualification that will allow building surveyors to inspect properties for asbestos. The National Individual Asbestos Certification Scheme (NIACS) will cover surveyors for mistakes such as missing asbestos that subsequently causes injury or the loss of value to a building arising from the discovery of asbestos they had missed. The HSE estimates that up to half a million commercial properties still contain asbestos.
