Reviews the Commission for Rural Communities' report "State of the countryside 2005" which is its most detailed to date. Reveals that the quality of life in rural England is continuing to decline because of insufficient housing, inadequate transport and access to services, and disadvantages country dwellers in comparison with urban residents The report will be fed into the work of the government Affordable Rural Housing Commission. Concludes that the gap between town and country will continue to widen.
