Scots reinforce rules underpinning design

Grant, Jeremy

Scots reinforce rules underpinning design - 2005 - Estates Gazette (0540) 8 October 2005, 180-181(2) .

Outlines the major change to building design certification in Scotland enforced by the Building (Scotland ) Act 2003 from 1 May 2005. The existing self-certification structural design certificates cease to be effective on that date. From that date certifiers of design who have registered with the Scottish Engineers Registration and work for an approved body, can certify a design as complying with building regulations. All work, with the exception of alterations to single-occupancy houses up to two storeys, must be independently checked Certificates can only be issued on completed work, which are likely to result in more staged warrants.
