Reports on the new National Individual Asbestos Certification Scheme (NIACS). Those surveyors wishing to obtain certification will have to pass a training course, including examinations and assessments, before applying for NIACS membership. They will then have to undergo supervised work experience before undertaking a competency assessment prior to receiving accreditation. A new insurance indemnity scheme covers bodily injury, consequential loss, and diminution in the value of buildings and will be exclusive to members of NIACS.
