It is understood that in a forthcoming report the Urban Taskforce is to call for the government's sustainable communities plan to be scrapped. It believes that the emphasis on such communities and growth areas is taking precedence over urban renewal. It will also recommend increasing the number of houses on developed land and emphasise the need to maintain high design standards.
