Warns employers that in the New Engineering Contract (Third Edition) enables a contractor to claim any event that could not have been prevented by the parties or been so unlikely that it would have been unreasonable to have been allowed for as a compensation event. This would give the contractor additional money and an extension of time following a subcontractor insolvency or unexpected shortage of materials or labour. Employer interference in key project dates can also give rise to a compensation event whilst employers' interim payment obligations are increased in the new target cost option.
