A government taskforce is set to draw up a list of surplus public sector land to sell off for private residential development. Those behind the scheme argue that the process will increase the availability of housing land. However, housebuilders are suspicious of these government initiatives, claiming that identified land, stuck in a slow moving pipeline, will never be released, and that a refreshed register will not guarantee a larger housing supply.
