Buying for life in public sector construction be the best, says health and safety minister

The government is urging public sector clients to adopt best practice in construction procurement to help raise health and safety standards for workers involved in such projects. By buying for life, it is hoped to reduce incidents of injury and ill-health during the building, maintenance and refurbishment of community facilities. On average 17 workers are killed each year on essential projects procured by the public sector.
