With the increase in the use of design-and-build-contracts, the role of contract administrator, traditionally taken by an architect, is now increasingly being occupied by project managers and quantity surveyors. In this article, the author looks at the responsibilities of a contract administrator, which flow from the building contract itself, from their appointment from the employer and from case law.
