While the commercial mortgaged backed securities market has flourished in the United States, securitisation in Europe and Asia is still in its infancy stage. Nevertheless, investors and borrowers in several countries are beginning to realise its potential, such as liquidity, higher yields and favourable financing rates. But a perceived lack of transparency or financial disclosure is threatening to curb this new-found enthusiasm.
