Wake up call
Sweet, Rod
Wake up call - 2006 - Construction Manager May 2006, 23(1) .
Examines the regulatory regime relating to scaffolding. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require all scaffolding to be designed by a competent engineer unless it conforms to a generally recognised standard configuration, whilst the new European Standard, BS EN 12811:2003, which favours modular scaffolding with a rigorous method of calculation, has replaced BS 5973:1993, which adopted a permissible stress approach for the more traditional tube and fitting method.
