Argues that dedicated project planners have been largely replaced by computer software programmes, which often only provide critical path analysis and Gantt chart production. For a number of reasons, there is an urgent need for a move back to dedicated planners with specialist project management skills, especially the abilities to consult, communicate, co-ordinate and control.
