Weighs up the arguments for and against using electronic reverse auctions to buy facilities management services. The debate has been ignited by Article 54 of the EU directive on procurement in the public sector (Directive 2004/18/EC), transposed into UK law as the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 Reg 21, which came into force on 31 January 2006. This regulation is interpreted by some bodies as validation for their position that eAuctions are not suitable for procurement of professional services.
