Reports on the radical techniques being used in the construction of the Welsh Institute for Sustainable Education at the Centre for Alternative Technology. The building will have almost zero carbon emissions, will be powered by renewable energy, and be constructed of materials with the lowest possible embodied energy content. Rammed earth will be used for the lecture theatre walls. It is anticipated that building costs will be low.
