Reports on the results of the government's Design for Manufacture competition, in which a number of developers produced designs for affordable houses for key workers for a total construction cost not exceeding £60 000. Concerns are expressed that as this sum does not represent the total sale price, the houses may still be unaffordable by those for whom they were originally designed. In addition, only 30% of the housing on the sites earmarked for development by the government will be of this value.
