Mylius, Andrew

Thames' desalination plant enters choppy waters - 2006 - New Civil Engineer (1629) 29 June 2006, 14-15(2) .

Looks at Thames Water's proposals to build a desalination plant on the Thames estuary, which would use a reverse osmosis process. The plant is being opposed by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, who argues that the company should instead curb leakages, harvest rainwater, and look at the reuse and purification of outflow from wastewater treatment plants. There are also concerns that the plant will contribute to global warming. Contains graphs, maps and tables.
