Whilst sustainability has moved steadily up the construction industry's agenda in recent years, concerns over costs, combined with regulatory and fiscal anomalies, are still retarding the growth of sustainable construction. There is also a need to educate the public on the issue; at present, there is low demand for, and appreciation of, sustainable buildings, primarily due to lack of knowledge about their benefits. A guide containing information on sustainable products is also required.
