All systems go at last? - 2006 - Construction News (6975) 13 July 2006, 38-39(2) .

The use of fast-erecting modular system scaffolding is growing rapidly in the UK. This article identifies the factors behind this rise, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, concerns over site safety, pressure to accelerate construction programmes, and shortage of traditional scaffolding skills. System scaffolds are both easier and safety to erect than traditional scaffolds, and training in their use is quicker and cheaper. They also encourage multi-skilling, whereby main and subcontractors erect and dismantle scaffolding themselves, rather than wait for specialist scaffolders.
