Building industry turndown continues for another quarter little evidence of seasonal upturn, but builders optimistic for summer

35% of respondents to the FMB State of Trade Survey for the second quarter of 2006 reported a fall in workloads between April and June, compared with 29% who reported a higher workload. The drop in workload was largest in repair, maintenance and improvement of social housing and non-residential public sector building. FMB members anticipate a rise in workload in the third quarter of the year, driven by increases in private and social housing.
