Discusses meeting the requirements of Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 s2 that a contract must be in writing, contained in a document that sets out the terms, and signed by the parties. Both the Law Commission and the High Court seem to accept that these requirements can be met by an e-mail. Reviews the interpretations given by the Law Commission and the courts on e-mails and on what constitutes a signature for the purpose of a contract.
