A survey of English local authorities has revealed wide disparities in on-site renewable planning policies. 60% of the local authorities who responded either have a policy in place or in draft, a further 22% are considering adopting such a policy, but 20% have nothing in place at all. Targets for on-site renewable production also vary, but with an average of 10%. Critics say the results emphasise the need for a consistent nationwide approach to be adopted.
