Euler Hermes UK's cash flow and profit report for the second quarter of 2006 revealed mixed results on the financial performance of UK corporates during this period. Profits growth remained sluggish, depressed by high raw material prices and price discounting; annual growth of free cash flow however was above the long-run series average. Payment delays rose at the fastest rate in four years. A sharp decline in profits and negligible cash flow growth in the construction sector, caused by rising costs and a sluggish housing market, contrasted with strong growth in the service sector.
