RICS has published a survey which rates common types of home improvement according to the percentage increase in value they are likely to add to a property. Money spent on home improvements does not automatically increase the value of property. RICS recommends taking professional advice before commencing home improvements. RICS has also published an information leaflet "Extending your home" (L134922) covering what people need to know before embarking on major building works.
