With reference to caselaw, the author identifies the causes of action which exist to combat noise , differentiating between those available to private individuals and those available to local authorities. Then looks at the position when a clash of controls occurs, paying particular attention to the case Lloyds Bank v Guardian Assurance and Another (as yet unreported), which concerned a complaint of noise nuisance created during building works carried out on premises.
