With an energy White Paper due around the turn of 2006/07 this article looks at what the government energy review report "The energy challenge" (L134185) offers in terms of energy supply options. Concludes that far from resolving the debate over long-term and short-term energy choices, the review has simply fudged the issue by suggesting that we can and should have both nuclear power and renewables which would undermine the development of a truly sustainable energy system. The main priority must be the rapid development of renewables. Attaches the Town and Country Planning Association's energy policy statement. Notes.
