Describes recent major transactions in this niche market, the current yields, the size and value of the sector, leases vs direct let, demand and supply and the new specialist student funds. Sees the sector as being a niche market that should to a considerable extent be shielded from the vagaries of fluctuating economic cycles. Concludes that rental growth prospects across the sector look good with most anticipating growth at 1% to 3% in excess of RPI per annum. Table gives total UK student accommodation.
