Financial backing has been agreed to establish a Scottish Construction Centre of Excellence. The centre will be up and running in 2007 and will drive forward construction quality, modernisation and best practice. The Scottish construction industry generates nearly £10bn per annum in sales and turnover, employs around 200 000 people, and represents about 10% of the country's GDP.
