Balfour Beatty stayed at the top of the new work winners monthly league tables for October 2006 and for the past 12 months. In October's table, Carillion climbed to second place and Kier moved up to third. The civils sector achieved the greatest activity in October 2006 gaining £653m of the £2 302m total, compared to £203m in September. The commercial and public sectors were also upbeat.
