BRE Certification to run a home inspector certification scheme - 2006 - BRE News Release 14 December 2006 .

DCLG has appointed BRE Certification to operate a certification scheme for home inspectors. The scheme will assess home inspectors against requirements set out in the DCLG standards, including a review of appropriate qualifications, criminal records and financial probity. Successful home inspectors will be given certificates, placed on a central register, and certification will be maintained through checking home condition reports and energy performance certificates.
