Mechanical and electrical services engineers fees have increased by almost 20% since 2000, according to the Fees Bureau survey "M&E services engineers fees". The average charge-out rate for chartered engineers has risen from £40 to £47 per hour. Charge-out rates varied considerably according to size of firm and location, with engineers working in large firms and London charging higher fees. The survey also revealed the housing and office sectors as having the highest average fees.
