The latest "Cost comparison survey" by Corus confirms steel as the preferred option for framing, in terms of cost and speed of construction. For office buildings, steel is on average £33 per sq m cheaper for frames and floors than concrete and for the whole building steel is £55 per sq m cheaper. For residential buildings, the whole building is 3% cheaper in steel than in concrete.
