Discusses the background to and provisions of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 which applies special provisions to the supply and use of temporary labour for agricultural work. The purpose of the Act was to improve the regulation of specified temporary labour by replacing several pieces of legislation with a single Act containing new criminal offences applied by a new regulatory authority, the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).
