UK consumption of organic food has risen ten-fold over the past decade, fuelled by perceived health benefits; environmental considerations have been a secondary influence on the market. With supermarkets now investigating the climate change impacts of food, this article looks at the implications for British agriculture and the complexity of comparing the impacts of different production systems.
