Edited versions of the papers presented at the 1987 conference of the Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM). The theme of the conference was "Fundamental research needs in construction management ." The papers explore the various aspects of construction management requiring research, such as local authority maintenance management, refurbishment projects, site productivity and information technology . Another paper compares the Japanese approach to building research with that of the UK, concluding that the UK could take a few pointers from Japan and another reviews suggestions for the funding of building research.
