In the quarter to March 2007, there were around 43 600 new house building starts in England, down by 9% compared with the same quarter in 2006, and 44 600 completions, up by 18%. During the 12 months to the end of March 2007, housing starts in England were down 6% when compared to the previous 12 months, and completions were up by 3%.
